Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area
The current Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA) is defined as the area bound by the rights of way of Main Street to Third Street and Buck Street to Union Street.
In 2012 City Staff worked with citizens, business owners and professional planners to create a feasible plan for the neighborhood within the requirements of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HUD approved the plan and the City began implementation in 2013.
Since plan implementation the following amounts have been utilized for improvement projects:
* Sidewalk repairs and improvements - $207,408
* Street paving - $284,746
* Second Street Park improvements - $86,593
* Acquisition and demolition - $295,713
* Commercial Facade Grants - $26,887
* Residential Facade Grants - $173,121
* Down Payment Assistance Grant - $5,000
* Total funding spent in NRSA (as of April, 2016) - $1,079,468
NRSA plans have a life of 5 years and 2016 marks the start of the 4th year of the current plan. City Staff has begun researching and obtaining data to be used to identify the next area to be defined as a Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area.
