Maine State Housing Authority’s Homeowner Assistance Fund
Are you a homeowner? Are you having trouble paying your mortgage, utilities, or other housing related costs? Maine State Housing Authority’s Homeowner Assistance Fund may be able to help. The fund is for income-eligible homeowners struggling with housing costs due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The difficulty may be due to a COVID-related loss of income or an increase in expenses. The program can provide funds to:
-
Eliminate or reduce past due payments or other delinquent amounts on mortgage loans
-
Avoid foreclosure and work with your lender to develop an affordable monthly payment
-
Settle past due bills including property taxes, HOA or Condo fees, and cooperative maintenance charges
-
Resolve overdue payments for utilities such as electricity, water, sewer, and gas; and home energy such as oil, kerosene, propane, wood, and internet access services.
To qualify, you must have experienced COVID-related financial hardship after January 21, 2020, your property must be located in the State of Maine, and the property must be occupied as your primary residence.
