Bangor Area Transit Study Begins with Public
Forum on February 7
BANGOR, MAINE – The
City of Bangor and Community Connector have announced a multifaceted
Bangor area transit study, in order to identify the needs of the bus
system and how it can better serve the public. The study will begin with
a public forum on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from
3:30pm-5:15pm at the Bangor Public Library. All bus riders, non-riders,
business owners, and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to
attend.
In
addition to the forum, individuals will begin taking surveys both on
Community
Connector buses and within the community at large. Bus riders and
pedestrians may be asked to answer some questions by the transit study’s
survey team as they start to gather feedback.
The
Community Connector is the greater Bangor area’s public transit bus
system,
connecting riders between Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, Orono, and Old Town.
In September 2018, the Community Connector was awarded a $2.89M grant
from the Federal Transit Authority to update its bus fleet, maintain bus
service levels, and meet increasing service
needs.
