11/21/2018 - Winter Parking Regulations in Effect Now through March 31, 2019

BANGOR, ME -- The City of Bangor's winter parking regulations went into effect yesterday when the Public Works department issued the first parking ban of the winter season. Winter parking regulations continue through March 31, 2019. Vehicles that violate winter parking regulations may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense. In the City of Bangor, winter parking regulations differ slightly by location.

Winter Parking Regulations for Streets OUTSIDE the Downtown Parking Management District

Until March 31, 2019, parking is prohibited on all city streets and city parking lots outside the Downtown Parking Management District from 12 midnight through 6AM. In addition, daytime alternate side on-street parking is also in effect: from 6AM to 12 midnight, parking is permitted on the odd-numbered side of each street on odd-numbered days, and on the even-numbered side of each street on even-numbered days (unless otherwise regulated by City signage).

Winter Parking Regulations for Streets WITHIN the Downtown Parking Management District

Until March 31, 2019, parking is prohibited on city streets and in city parking lots within the Downtown Parking Management District when the City declares a parking ban. Parking bans can be declared prior to and following a snow event. The City encourages the public to subscribe to receive parking ban notifications via email: http://www.bangormaine.gov/subscribe and not rely on the weather to assume whether a parking ban is in effect. In addition, parking ban notifications are published on the home page of this website, the City's Facebook and Twitter pages, and forwarded to local news outlets.

Alternate Parking Locations during Parking Bans

Several City parking lots are available for emergency winter storm parking during a parking ban. The following list of parking lots are available for overnight parking during a parking ban, from 5PM to 7AM:

Columbia Street Lot - Parking is available below the upper deck of the Columbia Street parking lot (enter at the corner of Hammond and Central Streets)

Pancoe Pool Lot - Parking is available at Pancoe Pool, located at 175 Thirteenth Street

Mt. Hope Lot - Parking is available off Mt. Hope Avenue, in the lot facing Cameron Stadium

Parking Garage - Parking is available on the ground level of the Pickering Square Parking Garage, enter through the Kenduskeag Plaza West
