The City of Bangor plans to clean up and abate the vacant Building 487 in the Bangor International Airport for the purpose of undetermined future redevelopment. As part of the building cleanup, the City of Bangor has received grant funds from the Maine DEP to help remediate environmental hazards at the site. As a requirement of receiving those funds, the City of Bangor is making public this notification:
This provides public notice of the availability of the draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives and Remedial Action Plan (ABCA/RAP) for environmental cleanup to be conducted at the above referenced property, for public review and comment. This ABCA/RAP was prepared as a requirement of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection sub-grant awarded to the City of Bangor for the cleanup and abatement of Building 487. The ABCA/RAP document, as well as previous environmental assessment documents for the Site, can be reviewed at the City of Bangor, Economic Development Office, 73 Harlow St., Bangor, Maine 04401 (207) 992-4239 and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, File Room, State House Station 17, Augusta, Maine 04333, (207) 287-7843, Monday through Friday 9 am to 4:00 pm. Please contact Mr. Jason Bird at (207) 992-4239 or jason.bird@bangormaine.gov to make arrangements to review the documents.
This also provides notice that comments on the draft ABCA/RAP and on the proposed cleanup and abatement of Building 487 can be submitted in writing to Credere Associates, LLC, 776 Main Street, Westbrook, Maine, 04092, Attention: Mr. Judd Newcomb at (207) 828-1272 ext. 16 or jnewcomb@crederellc.com. The public comment period for these documents begins November 8 and ends November 29, 2014.
A Public Meeting concerning the draft ABCA/RAP and on the proposed remediation of Building 487 will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 5:30 PM at the Bangor City Hall, Council Chambers, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor, Maine 04401. Public comments on the draft ABCA/RAP and on the proposed remediation will be accepted at this meeting.
