Due to the severity and timing of the anticipated snow storm, all non-emergency City services will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, March 8, 2018. Those with WIC or other appointments at Public Health & Community Services should call 207-992-4530 and reschedule if necessary. The Commission on Cultural Development and Historic Preservation Commission meetings have been rescheduled to Thursday, March 15. Tomorrow’s snowfall is predicted to be heaviest from early to late morning, coinciding with morning commutes. The decision to close was made to ensure the safety of residents and city employees.
In addition, trash will not be picked up curbside tomorrow, Thursday, March 8. Trash pickup will resume on Friday, March 9. Residents that normally have trash picked up on Thursdays will have it picked up on Friday, those with a Friday pickup will have it picked up on Saturday this week.
A parking ban is in effect from 11:00 PM tonight, Wednesday, March 7, through 6:00 AM tomorrow, Thursday, March 8. Vehicles left on city streets or in city parking lots during the ban may be towed at the owner’s expense. Several City parking lots are available for emergency winter storm parking. The following list of parking lots are available for overnight parking during a parking ban, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM:
Columbia Street Lot
Parking is available below the upper deck of the Columbia Street parking lot
Pancoe Pool Lot Parking is available at Pancoe Pool, located at 175 Thirteenth Street
Mount Hope Lot
Parking is available off Mount Hope Avenue, in the lot facing Cameron Stadium
Parking Garage
Parking is available on the ground level of the Pickering Square Parking Garage; enter through the Kenduskeag Plaza West.
