10/27/2014 - Winter Lights Illuminate Downtown Bangor on Saturday, November 1
Bangor, Maine—To keep spirits bright through the long winter season, downtown Bangor will be glowing from more than 20,000 winter lights along parkways and streets. On Saturday, November 1 at 5:45 p.m. the public is invited to a lighting ceremony in Kenduskeag Parkway where the lights will go on for the first time and the City of Bangor’s Department of Public Works employee Marcia McGrath will be honored for her dedicated efforts to keep downtown Bangor beautiful throughout the summer.
Last year's popular lighting instillation in Kenduskeag Park spurred citizens and businesses alike to request a larger display for 2014. In response, the Downtown Bangor Partnership—through the generous support of Katahdin Trust Company—has expand its efforts in the 2014-2015 winter season to include the decoration of Kenduskeag Park, West Market Square, and along the Main Street corridor. The lights will remain illuminated throughout the winter.
