Arrest made in Larkin Street knife assault

BANGOR, Maine – A Bangor woman was arrested and is facing felony charges stemming from an assault involving a knife that occurred earlier in January.

On Jan. 24, 2026, just before 12 noon, Bangor Police responded to a residence on Larkin Street for the report of an assault involving a knife. Upon arrival, police found a victim suffering from severe lacerations. Bangor Fire transported her to a hospital for treatment. The suspect had fled the scene. 

Detectives from the Bangor Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division investigated the incident and obtained a warrant for the arrest of Sammantha Johnson, 36, of Bangor. 

On Jan. 29, 2026, at approximately 7:46 p.m., Bangor Police patrol officers located Johnson on Second St. in Bangor. She was taken into custody and transported to Penobscot County Jail.

The victim was treated and subsequently released from the hospital prior to Johnson’s arrest.

Johnson was charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon
