BANGOR, Maine - Police arrested a 14-year-old male from Brewer following a brief chase early Wednesday morning.
Officer Mark Hutchings was on Main Street and noticed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle the Brewer Police Department had reported as stolen. Officer Hutchings followed the vehicle and attempted to stop it. After momentarily coming to a stop, the vehicle fled and Officer Hutchings pursued.
The vehicle took several secondary streets during the pursuit, at one point turning from Webster Avenue onto Hammond Street, and went through a parking lot of business, striking a large, decorative rock pillar, flattening a tire and losing the front bumper in the process.
The vehicle ultimately came to a stop near the intersection of Buck Street and Webster Ave, and the juvenile driver was taken into custody.
The juvenile was charged with the following:
- Refusing to stop for law enforcement – Class C
- Aggravated Criminal Mischief – Class C
- Driving to Endanger – Class E
- Refusal to submit to arrest- Class E
The Brewer Police Department charged the driver with Unauthorized Use of Property, Class D.
