Stephen Nason, 39, of Bangor was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail early Wednesday afternoon, after being medically cleared at a local hospital, on a probation violation charge, and is also being charged with Aggravated Criminal Mischief, Class C felony, and Creating a Police Standoff.
Nason climbed onto the roof of a residence on 14th Street at about 4:00 a.m. and refused to come down until 11:30 a.m., at which time he was taken into protective custody to be evaluated.
Members of the Bangor Police and Fire Department, as well as Bangor Police Department crisis negotiators were on the scene for the duration of the incident and a portion of 14th Street was closed until the situation was resolved.
