Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights
The Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, Inclusion and Human Rights advises the City on policies, practices, and programs that promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and human rights within municipal operations and the broader Bangor community.

Board of Appeals
The purpose of the Board of Appeals is to hear appeals from any order, requirement, decision, determination or interpretation of the Code Enforcement Officer or other officer or entity specified by an ordinance of the City of Bangor and to grant variance requests from any ordinance of the City of Bangor which specifically permits variances.

Board of Assessment Review
The Board has the power to grant property tax abatements pursuant to state law and to determine the tax-exempt status of real and personal property. It functions in a quasi-judicial capacity and members must be able to hold public hearings, make findings of fact and conclusions of law in accordance with state law, and issue written decisions setting forth their findings and conclusions. To serve on the Board, members are required to have the background necessary to be able to determine the value of real and personal property.

Board of Ethics
The Board shall make findings of fact and render opinions to the City Council concerning application of the provisions of the Ethics Code to any particular situation.

Commission on Cultural Development
The City of Bangor Commission on Cultural Development supports art and culture in Bangor, Maine through funding, marketing, advocacy, and education to benefit citizens, visitors, and the economic and cultural vitality of the city.

Downtown Parking Advisory Committee
The Downtown Parking Advisory Committee reviews the City's parking resources, prices and fees, and policies as they relate to on-street and off-street parking in the Downtown Parking Management Area and makes recommendations regarding the same to the City Council and its appropriate committees.

Firearms Discharge Committee
The committee makes recommendations to the Bangor City Council annually regarding necessary changes in the location of the boundary between Zone 1 and Zone 2, and recommends any ordinance amendments or other Council action regulating the use of firearms within the City of Bangor which the Committee shall deem necessary to protect the public safety.

Historic Preservation Commission
This commission is tasked with preserving the history of Bangor.

Housing Authority Commission
Bangor Housing provides housing opportunities for low to moderate income households.

Parks, Recreation & Harbor Advisory Committee
It shall be the function of this Committee to hold regular meetings and to advise the Parks and Recreation Director with respect to the policy and administration and all phases of the recreational program of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Penjajawoc Marsh / Bangor Mall Management Commission
The Commission is charged with developing a management and access plan for the Penjajawoc Stream and Marsh.

Planning Board
The Board’s charge is to develop the City’s Comprehensive Plan, to make recommendations on rezoning requests, and to approve subdivisions and site plans.

Sophia Kirstein Student Scholarship Fund
This fund is to be used for scholarships to worthy boys and girls of the City of Bangor to help finance their education.

Tree Board
The Tree Board shall study the problems and determine the needs of the City of Bangor in connection with its public tree program.

The Trustees are the governing body of the Bangor Water District.
