[ARCHIVED] Nighttime Broadway Closures 11/17 - 12/6

The portion of Broadway closest to I-95 will be closed to pedestrians and motorists from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday of each week, beginning Sunday, Nov. 17 through December 6. Motorists who normally access I-95 from Broadway must seek alternate routes.

Crews will not be working during the Thanksgiving holiday so there will be no closures on Nov. 27, 28 or 29.

Lanes on I-95 will be shifted but north- and southbound traffic will not be impeded by the nighttime work. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic on Broadway.

Motorists who normally travel north on Broadway to access I-95 Southbound should instead plan on taking Stillwater Avenue north toward the Bangor Mall. They can then get on the highway at Exit 186. Motorists who travel south on Broadway to connect with I-95 will still be able to access southbound lanes of the highway. But for those motorists seeking to head northbound on I-95, they will need to instead take I-95 south, exit at Union Street, take a left onto Union and then an immediate left onto I-95 north.

The I-95 bridge is aging and must be replaced. The Maine Department of Transportation is overseeing the project and has contracted with New England Infrastructure Inc. for the demolition work.
