BANGOR, Maine – Bangor Parks and Recreation is excited to announce two new adult softball leagues starting this fall — one for men ages 40 and older, and one for women ages 18 and older. Both leagues use a fun, draft-style format to create balanced teams, encourage new connections, and keep the competition friendly.
40+ Men’s Adult Softball Draft League (Senior Rules)
Stay active, enjoy friendly competition, and be part of a supportive, social community in our new 40+ Men’s Draft League.
Who can play: Men ages 40 and older
Format: Players register individually and are placed on teams through a preseason draft conducted by team managers.
Draft date: Saturday, August 24 at 5 p.m. at Union Street Complex (registration and payment required to be part of the draft)
Season: Sundays, September 7 through October 5, with doubleheaders scheduled each week

Women’s Adult Softball Draft League
Step up to the plate for a brand-new league designed for women of all skill levels — from seasoned athletes to those returning to the game. Enjoy a fun, balanced, and social playing environment focused on camaraderie, sportsmanship, and friendly competition.
Who can play: Women ages 18 and older
Format: Slow pitch, 12–14 players per team, with teams formed through a preseason draft
Skill assessment: Saturday, August 24 at 3 p.m. at Union Street Complex Softball Fields (if you can’t attend, still register and call us — we’ll make it work)
