11/28/2016 - Holiday Tree to be Installed in West Market Square on Tuesday, November 29, Lighting Scheduled for Saturday, December 3
The City of Bangor's Holiday Tree will be installed in West Market Square on Tuesday, November 29. The 35+ foot balsam fir was donated from Sprague's Nursery & Garden Center and is from a private property in Levant, Maine. Sprague's Nursery & Garden Center has been donating a tree to the City for more than 20 years.  Emera has donated a truck to set the tree in place and City of Bangor Public Works crews will install the tree and adorn it with lights.

The tree lighting has been scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd and will follow the conclusion of the Bangor Rotary Festival of Lights Parade, which begins at 4:30 pm and winds its way through Downtown Bangor.

"The Festival of Lights Parade and tree lighting are a holiday tradition for families throughout the Bangor region, who bundle up and gather to watch the floats, sing carols, and wave to Santa," said Tanya Emery, Director of Community and Economic Development. "The City is grateful to Sprague's Nursery & Garden Center, who once again donated the spectacular holiday centerpiece of downtown, and Emera, who donated the truck to set the tree in place in West Market Square. Our hats go off to the Bangor Rotary for organizing the parade, and keeping this wonderful holiday celebration alive in Bangor!"
