Chimera Coffee to host event kicking off ARTober in Bangor
BANGOR, Maine – The ninth annual celebration of
ARTober will kick off with a Bangor arts award event held downtown at Chimera
Coffee on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
ARTober is an opportunity to
showcase the creative work by Bangor’s arts community and remind residents of the
many opportunities to enjoy the arts in the City. The City’s Commission on Cultural Development will host the event at Chimera Coffee, 24 Broad St., from
6 to 7 p.m.
The gathering will celebrate
this year’s arts award winner, provide an opportunity to meet art award
nominees, and offer support to the City’s active arts community.
ARTober began in 2015 with the
City designating October as the “Month of the Arts.” The month is dedicated to
showcasing the City’s rich and varied artists and art organizations. The arts
award that will be presented Oct. 1 is given to a person or entity that
embodies or supports the vitality and creativity of Bangor’s arts community. The
recognition also comes with a $1,000 cash award.
The Commission on Cultural Development
accepts grant applications from artists and nonprofit arts and cultural
organizations, and Oct. 1 also marks the fall deadline for those applications.
