Jose Saavedra Named New Director for Bangor International Airport
BANGOR, Maine – The Bangor City Council on Monday approved the appointment of Jose F. Saavedra, C.M., M.E. as the new Bangor International Airport Director.
Saavedra currently serves as the Director of Industry Programs for the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) in Alexandria, Virginia.
“Jose’s extensive and varied aviation background will be a great fit to lead our operation at Bangor International Airport,” said Bangor City Manager Debbie Laurie. “The airport has several improvement projects coming up and we are confident that Jose’s background in airport operations will benefit the current airport staff in continuing to provide the best customer experience possible, while also growing BGR’s other business segments.”
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Airport Management from the University of North Dakota and his Master’s Degree from Western Carolina University in Innovation Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
Saavedra has spent his career in the aviation industry, holding positions at Chicago Rockford International Airport, Gerald R Ford International Airport, Grand Forks International Airport, Midland International Air & Space Port, and Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
“I am looking forward to joining the BGR team and using my previous experience to help strategically plan for the future,” Saavedra said. “The airport has an excellent reputation in the industry and is an asset to both the region and the state. I am excited to explore potential opportunities for growth and sustainability as I build working relationships with staff, community and industry partners.”
Saavedra replaces former Airport Director Tony Caruso who retired from the City earlier this year.
