Community Connector to Resume Fare Collection on July 1st, Continue Safety Protocols

BANGOR, MAINE—Beginning Wednesday, July 1, 2020, the Community Connector public transit system will resume collecting fares for all passengers. Fare collection was suspended earlier in the spring to assist with initial safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this time, passengers must have an essential purpose to use public transportation. Passengers should board at the front door of the bus, and exit at the rear door. Passengers are still required to wear a face covering while riding the bus, unless a qualifying medical reason prohibits the use of face coverings. Examples of face coverings including masks, bandanas, scarves, and any other materials that cover a passenger’s mouth and nose. Those riding the bus are reminded to practice regular hand hygiene, as well as proper social distancing when possible.

Passes and tickets for the Community Connector are available at local vendors, including: Bangor City Hall; Orono and Veazie town offices; Hannaford at Airport Mall, Broadway, Bangor Mall, Hampden, Old Town, and Brewer; Fairmount Market; Joe’s Market; Orono IGA; and the Pickering Square vending machine.

The Community Connector’s administrative offices at 475 Maine Avenue are open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
