Housing Work Group Continues Public Meetings

October 24 Focusing on Innovative Solutions

Bangor, Maine: The City of Bangor has convened a work group to focus on the issue of quality, affordable housing in the City and the region. The work group includes representatives from the public and private sector, including individuals, landlords, renters, housing developers, and nonprofit agencies.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend all sessions. A series of workshops are planned through September and October to hear panel presentations on housing topics, culminating with recommendations for local programs or policy that can address the shortage of quality, affordable housing in the region.

The fifth public session is October 24, 2018 from 5:00 to 6:45 pm in Council Chambers at Bangor City Hall, 73 Harlow Street. A panel presentation on innovative solutions and best practices will kick off the event, followed by questions and open discussion.

A session to focus on recommendations for solutions will be held on November 7, with a final presentation of recommendations to the City Council and other stakeholders on December 5. All meetings will be televised on Bangor’s government access channel and live streamed through the City’s Facebook page, and video will be available after the fact at:

Members of the community who cannot attend the sessions are encouraged to send comments, suggestions, or questions to housing@bangormaine.gov or via mail to the Community and Economic Development Office, Bangor City Hall, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor, ME 04401.
