City Manager Catherine Conlow announced today that Fire Chief Scott Lucas will fulfill the remainder of his two year employment agreement on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave. Lucas has submitted his resignation effective December 3, 2014, coinciding with the end of his employment agreement with the City of Bangor. He had been on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave since September 13, 2014.
After careful consideration, “Lucas and I have agreed that it is in the best interest of the Department and the City that he remains on leave until the end of his contract”. Conlow stated that “as this is a personnel matter, she would not be commenting further.”
According to Conlow, “the City has already begun the recruitment process to select the next Fire Chief of the department, and we are moving forward with that process. I am hopeful that we will have a new Chief on board by the end of the year”. “In the interim, the four Assistant Fire Chiefs are continuing to handle the day to day operations of running the department”, Conlow concluded.
