11/2/2017 - City assistance to help replenish food lost due to power outage
For Bangor residents that lost food due to the power outage, the City will provide assistance to help replenish food. Beginning Friday, November 3, staff will meet with those that need assistance on a walk-in basis at Bangor Health and Community Services, located at 103 Texas Ave. Walk-ins will be accepted during normal business hours, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
In order to qualify for City assistance, proof of Bangor residency (driver’s license, mail, pay stub, etc) is required. Those that currently receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are not eligible for City assistance but can contact the Department of Health and Community Services at (207) 561-4100 to learn more about the options available to them.
For more information, Bangor residents can call (207) 992-4530 and leave a message. Bangor Health and Community Services staff will return calls as soon as possible, but due to call volume, it may take up to two business days to receive a call back.
