Bangor, Maine – The City of Bangor’s Commission on Cultural Development has an upcoming grant deadline which can help support local individuals involved in arts and culture projects, as well as non-profit arts and cultural organizations. The Commission on Cultural Development has a grant award budget of $15,000 for this fiscal year; typical awards range between $1,000 and $2,500.
The next grant deadline is November 1st, with application review happening at the December Commission on Cultural Development meeting. Declined applicants may also resubmit at subsequent deadlines, while grant recipients must wait one year before submitting again.
A recent substantive change for individuals is that grant funds are no longer restricted solely to tangible materials – individuals may receive stipends for their work, which encourages applications from individuals in much broader and more diverse disciplines, including visual arts, performing arts, humanities and other fields. Both individuals and organizations must match grant funds by a minimum of 50% through other means of fundraising (grants, donations, in-kind).
Individuals and organizations interested in applying for an arts and culture grant from the City of Bangor should download an application form at www.bangormaine.gov/culturalcommission.
