Bangor, Maine: Matador Network, the world's largest independent travel publisher, ranks the City of Bangor among the 24 coolest towns in the US. The towns chosen for this distinction were among those that travelers shared via Matador's travelstroke app. Bangor, along with the 23 other locations listed, represented 'a few places [that] capture our imagination beyond the ordinary'. According to the travel publisher, Bangor's cultural revival over the past few years is what set it apart, citing the thriving food and arts scene along with venues such as the University of Maine Museum of Art and the Penobscot Theatre.
