11/10/2016 - Public Meeting Set to Discuss Bangor’s Plan to Eliminate and/or Reduce Combined Sewer Overflows
A public meeting will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016, beginning at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at Bangor City Hall to discuss the City’s 2017 Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) to eliminate and /or reduce the number of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO’s) from the City’s sewer collection system.
City of Bangor Waste Water Treatment Plant and Engineering Department staff have been working with AECOM, the City’s Engineering Consultant, to develop the 2017 LTCP. This plan is a requirement of the City’s Consent Decree with the USEPA and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. The Plan is intended to be reviewed and updated every five years based on sewer system priorities and the City’s financial capability to fund projects. The Plan, for the first 5 years’ worth of improvement projects, is required to be submitted to the USEPA by January 31, 2017.
Engineers from AECOM will provide a brief presentation to review the Long Term Control Plan and then will be available, along with City Staff, to answer questions from the public concerning the plan.
For those unable to attend the meeting in-person, the meeting will be streamed live online and is accessible via: http://videos.bangormaine.gov. The meeting will also be broadcast on the City’s government access channel, local channel 7 for Time Warner Cable customers.
