8/21/2014 - Lowe's Heroes Program to Clean Up Portion of Kenduskeag Stream Trail
The Downtown Bangor Partnership’s Beautification Committee is partnering with the Lowe’s Home Improvement volunteer program, Lowe’s Heroes, to clean up a significant section of the Kenduskeag Stream Trail. The portion of the trail, located between Franklin Street and Court Street, is an entrance point for the urban trail in the heart of downtown Bangor. August 25 through August 29 volunteers from the Bangor location of Lowe’s will undertake trail work to reclaim the footprint of the trail, haul away trash and debris, paint the retaining wall and two benches along the trail, and cut low growth along the stream.
“We’re thankful for the generosity of Lowe’s not only for their donation of materials to improve the trail, but also for the incredible amount of volunteer time from their employees. It’s a huge contribution to our community that we’re grateful for,” says Caitlin Brooke, Downtown Coordinator for the City of Bangor and Downtown Bangor Partnership liaison.
Lowe’s Heroes is a company-wide volunteer program that offers Lowe’s employees the opportunity to support local community improvement projects. While projects vary by location, Lowe’s Heroes share a common goal – to make our communities better places to live.
