Recycling Advisory Committee. [Amended 7-22-1996 by Ord. No. 96-266]

(1)

A Recycling Advisory Committee shall consist of seven members. One of the members shall be a Councilor who is appointed annually by the Council Chairperson. The remaining six members shall be appointed by the City Council from the public-at-large. Initial appointments of public members shall consist of two members for a one-year term, two members for a two-year term and two members for a three-year term. All appointments thereafter shall be for terms of three years. No appointed member shall serve more than two consecutive three-year terms.

All appointed public members must be residents of the City of Bangor with strong interest in and support of the City's Recycling Program. The City Engineer, the Director of Operations and Maintenance and a representative from the School Department shall serve as ex officio members.

The Recycling Advisory Committee shall meet on a regular basis and at least bimonthly to provide ongoing review and evaluation of the City's Recycling Program, including operation, participation rates, education, policies and the effects of market factors and regulatory changes. The Committee shall be advisory in nature, and its recommendations shall be referred to the City Manager or his or her designee for further action.
