Article 37 - Schedule of Fees City CodeEnforcement Permits

Section 1. Effective July 1, 1992, the City of Bangor Code Enforcement Officer shall change the charges for permits issued by or through that office. See attached schedule of fees.

Section 2. The fee prescribed by this ordinance shall supersede any existing City ordinance provisions that are inconsistent with the schedule as set forth in Section 1 above.

** I. CONSTRUCTION

All new construction (residential and commercial) permits shall be based on a fee multiplier of .007 multiplied against total construction costs derived from appropriate calculations pursuant to the adopted ICC type of construction method/permit fees as presented to the City of Bangor and in effect as of July 1 in any calendar year. New section, see examples.

EXISTING RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION: including, but not limited to remodeling, new fences, decks, swimming pools, foundations, utility buildings, concrete slabs, garages, additions, fire escapes, handicap ramps.

FEE: $33.00 minimum plus $6.00 per $1,000.00 of construction cost over $2,500.00. No maximum fee.

EXISTING NON-RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION: including, but not limited to remodeling, additions, alterations, fences, concrete slabs, canopies, accessory structures.

FEE: $48.00 minimum plus $6.00 per $1,000.00 of construction cost over $2,500.00. No maximum fee.

AMENDMENTS TO BUILDING:

Increase cost of work as per schedule above.

BELATED FEE FOR LATE APPLICATION AFTER WORK HAS BEEN STARTED:

Any work started without benefit of a permit shall be served a Stop Work Order, and, if subsequently permitted, pay 50% additional to the required permit fee.

PORTABLE SWIMMING POOLS:

Permanent in-ground or above-ground not conforming to portable pool requirements, based on cost of work as above. With side heights of 30” and/or gallon capacity of 1,200 gallons or more.

OBSERVATION STANDS AND AMUSEMENT STANDS:

Temporary Stands:

FEE: $53.00

Permanent Stands: - based on construction cost as on previous page.

MOVING OF BUILDING:

Removal of a building or structure from one lot to another or to a new location on the same lot. FEE: $37.00 plus 100% of any direct cost for services provided by the City.

Dwelling, structure or interior - FEE: $40.00 plus $10.00 for each story over (3) stories. Small Structures: such as garage or shed with no sewer connections - FEE: $11.00

BELATED FEE WILL BE CHARGED WHERE DEMOLITION HAS BEEN COMMENCED WITHOUT BENEFIT OF A PERMIT. A STOP WORK ORDER WILL BE ISSUED AND THE FEE DOUBLED BEFORE A PERMIT IS ISSUED.

Inspections to be dictated by cost of construction from ICC fee structure calculations. Inspection fees will be charged dependent on project costs and staff inspection time incurred based on the following scale:

Any work started without benefit of permit after one business day, after receipt of notice, if subsequently permitted, pay double the required permit fee.
