Are you considering a career in the fire service? The Bangor Fire Department advertises open positions in both the Bangor Daily News and the Portland Press Herald classifieds. Successful candidates must have a current EMT-Basic or higher license to be considered (this licensure can be in any State). Firefighters are required to complete a written exam. Applicants with passing scores are then given a physical assessment by Maine Fire Training & Education. Interviews are granted upon successful completion of both the written exam and physical assessment. The final step in being hired to work at the Bangor Fire Department is a reference and background check.
