THE ANNUAL BANGOR STATE FAIR RETURNS TO BASS PARK THIS WEEKEND
THE BANGOR STATE FAIR WILL TAKE PLACE JULY 28-AUGUST 6
BANGOR, ME – The City of Bangor and Spectra Venue Management, managers of Cross Insurance Center and operators of The Bangor State Fair, are excited to announce the return of the area’s 168 year old summer tradition. The 2017 Bangor State Fair, an agricultural and recreational fair, will take place for 10 consecutive days at its regular location, the newly paved and lit Bass Park grounds from July 28th until August 6th.
If you have never attended the Bangor State Fair or if you are an avid fair-goer, mark your calendar, the 2017 Bangor State Fair is the place to be this summer. Fair hours on weekdays will be 2pm to 9pm, with the fair closing at 10pm and weekend hours will be 12pm to 9pm, with the fair closing at 10pm. The last Sunday of the fair, August 6th, the fair will be open from 12pm to 4pm. For patrons to note, this year, all mechanical rides will begin operation 1 hour after gates open. This change is to show support to the agricultural mission of the fair and creates an opportunity to highlight and encourage all guests to visit the barns and 4-H exhibits before hitting the midway. Although the rides won’t be operating during the first hour, beyond agriculture, games and food stands will be open, as well as independent exhibitors and other attractions and entertainment.
Regular admission to the fair is $14 per person; children under 3 are free when accompanied by a paying adult. The $14 admission price is all inclusive – unlimited rides, all live entertainment and events and access to the 4-H and agricultural area. An unbeatable value! Special Senior and Military Appreciation Days for Seniors 60 years or older and all military with an ID, can attend the Bangor State Fair July 31st thru August 2nd at a discounted price of $7 per person. Also, new this year - parking will be FREE before 5 PM every day in the Infield Parking Lot. After 5 PM, parking will cost $7 per vehicle. Parking in the VIP parking lot will cost $10 all day.
Year after year, fair attendees come to the Bangor State Fair for its attractions, old and new. This year is no different; veteran fair goers and new comers can expect a wide array of events and attractions that the whole family can enjoy. Attractions at the 2017 Bangor State Fair include: mechanical rides and fair games, a Live Entertainment Stage which will present live music each day and the infamous eating contests, 4-H events and activities and an agricultural area, which includes Old McDonald’s Farm, Eastern Maine Rabbits and exhibits. Don’t miss A Grizzly Experience- a Live Alaskan Bear Show, Nerger’s Tigers, a Live Bengal Tiger Show, XPOGO – Extreme Pogo Stunts and Josh Landry brings a Live Custom Chainsaw Carving Show to this year’s fair. At the Grandstand, hundreds of people can feast their eyes on the action-packed Demolition Derby and Freestyle Motocross as well as Horse Shows and Oxen Pulling.
Friday, August 5th at 7 PM, after a day at the Fair, head to the Cross Insurance Center for A Rumble in Bangor presented by New England Fights. A separate ticket is required to attend this event.
