AN ANNUAL SUMMER TRADITION, THE BANGOR STATE FAIR RETURNS TO BASS PARK
THE BANGOR STATE FAIR WILL TAKE PLACE FROM JULY 29-AUGUST 7

BANGOR, ME – The City of Bangor and Spectra Venue Management, managers of Cross Insurance Center and operators of The Bangor State Fair, are excited to announce the return of the area’s 167 year old summer tradition. The 2016 Bangor State Fair, an agricultural and recreational fair, will take place for 10 consecutive days at its regular location on the Bass Park grounds from July 29th until August 7th.

 

If you have never attended the Bangor State Fair or if you are an avid fair goer, mark your calendar, the 2016 Bangor State Fair is the place to be this summer. The fair hours on weekdays will be 2pm to 9pm, with the fair closing at 10pm and weekend hours will be 12pm to 9pm, with the fair closing at 10pm. The last Sunday of the fair, August 7th, the fair will be open from 12pm to 4pm. Regular admission to the fair is $12 per person; children under 3 are free when accompanied by a paying adult. The $12 admission price is all inclusive – unlimited rides, entertainment and events and access to the 4-H and agricultural area. This year, there will be special Senior and Military Appreciation Days. Seniors 60 years or older and all military with an ID, can attend the Bangor State Fair August 1st thru August 3rd at a discounted price of $5 per person. This year, The Maine Troop Greeters are partnering with the Bangor State Fair and will be participating in the Senior/Military Appreciation Days. The Maine Troop Greeters will have a booth at the fair highlighting the Maine Troop Greeters Museum – Dedicated to Those Who Served.  The booth will have information about the proposed museum to be located at Bangor International Airport, items from the collection and information on ways to donate.  According to Nichi Farnham, chair of the museum campaign’s fundraising committee, this is a perfect event and the perfect days for the Greeters to be at the fair. She says, “The mission of the Maine Troop Greeters is to express the Nation’s gratitude and appreciation to the Troops for their service.  Participating in the fair on Senior/Military Days will give us another opportunity to greet and honor those who have served and to also honor and highlight our Greeters many of whom are seniors and wonderful role models of community giving.” For more information about the Maine Troop Greeters and the Museum Campaign visit www.themainetroopgreeters.org and www.mainetroopgreetersmuseum.org

 

Year after year, fair goers attend the Bangor State Fair for its attractions, old and new. This year is no different; veteran fair attendees and new comers can expect a wide array of events and attractions that the whole family can enjoy. Attractions at the 2016 Bangor State Fair include: mechanical rides and fair games, the Red Zone Wireless Stage which will present live music, eating contests and other entertainment and acts, 4-H events and activities and an agricultural area, which includes Old McDonald’s Farm, Animal Alley, Pony Rides, Eastern Maine Rabbits and exhibits. At the Grandstand, hundreds of people can feast their eyes on Truck and Tractor Pulls, Demolition Derby and Mega Trucks. On the Midway you can find a few new additions: Nerveless Nocks, a thrill circus which will include acts with a ‘space wheel’, a ‘cloud swing’, a trapeze and more as well as an extreme alligator show by Animal Planet’s Jimmy Riffle of the Gator Boys.

 

A few other happenings will be taking place during this year’s fair at the Cross Insurance Center. Ron White, “Blue Collar Comedian” will perform on July 30th at 7:30PM, a separate ticket is required to attend this event as well as an MMA event, New England Fights presents “Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight” on August 5th at 7PM, a separate ticket is also required to attend this event. On August 6th, Central Maine Derby is holding a bout at the venue that you can attend for free with your fair bracelet.
