Transit Driver - The BAT
The City of Bangor Public Works division is seeking qualified applicants to fill openings for HEO I. This is an entry level position consisting of laboring on various Public Works duties with occasional dump truck operation. Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Maine Class “B” driver’s license. A minimum of three (3) years experience on construction equipment and snowplowing preferred. Pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required. The successful applicant will be subject to further testing in accordance with federal D.O.T. regulations. The salary range is $12.40 - $15.88 per hour and includes a comprehensive fringe benefits package. Geographical Information Specialist
The City of Bangor is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a full time Geographical Information Specialist position in the Engineering Division The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the development, operation, maintenance and oversight of the City’s GIS system as well as managing the overall modification of programs and development of user interfaces, menus and macro-level commands. A complete job description is available upon request.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar GIS related program plus three years experience in GIS applications is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills are necessary. Extensive knowledge of the methods and techniques utilized in creating maps and GIS products as well as advanced LAN/WAN knowledge and a thorough understanding of internet technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and wireless are preferred. Qualified applicants must posses knowledge of operating systems and platforms such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL Server (client and server), and ESRI GIS software.

AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
The City of Bangor Fleet Maintenance Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a full time Mechanic’s position. The hours of work for this 40 hours per week position are 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with required overtime hours during the winter months. Responsibilities include repairs on gas and diesel engines, drive trains, transmissions, and electrical systems including on-board and related component computer systems. Experience with heavy – equipment and/or busses would be helpful. The successful candidate should have a post secondary technical school education and a minimum 3 years experience in a related field. A valid State of Maine class A and state inspection licenses are required. Pre-employment drug test also required. The successful applicant will be subject to further testing in accordance with federal D.O.T. regulations. Salary range is $15.01 to $20.16 per hour plus a comprehensive fringe benefits package.

The City of Bangor is seeking to collect applications for full-time Public Safety Dispatcher position(s). Selections will be made from the group of applicants as needed to staff our Police Department Dispatch Center. These positions require working in a fast paced telecommunication center answering business and emergency calls and dispatching appropriate police, fire or other emergency response personnel. Selected applicants will participate in an oral interview, must be in good health, pass a background check and polygraph examination and participate in an interview with the Chief of Police. The successful applicant will become familiar with computer-based dispatching systems. Training will be provided to the successful candidate to become EMD, CTO and E911 certified. These positions involve shift work with some required overtime. The City of Bangor’s Health & Community Services Department, Travel and Immunization Division, is seeking RN’s to work on a rotating schedule one evening and two to three mornings per month in addition to any specialty clinics that may be scheduled. Responsibilities include preparing for and cleaning up after clinics, reviewing immunization records, patient education, administering vaccines, and accurate record keeping. The successful applicants must be able to work flexible hours depending on clinic scheduling and be willing to work emergency care as needed. Possession of a current RN license and CPR certification is mandatory.

ON CALL NUTRITION COUNSELOR OR NUTRITIONIST
The City of Bangor is currently seeking applicants for on-call Nutrition Counselors or Nutritionists to work in the WIC Nutrition Program. The position requires an Associates Degree in a health related field or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition.
Work will include performing nutrition/health assessments of women, infants and children and providing nutrition education and counseling to young families.
Previous WIC experience required.
Work hours may range from 7 ½ hours to 30 hours per week. Pay range is $16.87 to $22.67 per hour.
