Councilor Josh Plourde

Joshua Plourde was born in Bangor and grew up in Enfield, Maine. He graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, Maine and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Earth and Climate Sciences from the University of Maine. Josh manages communications for the University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composites Center.

An active supporter of the arts, Josh served as a member of the City of Bangor's Commission for Cultural Development 2012-2013 and as interim director of the Downtown Bangor Arts Collaborative in 2009, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.

Josh is a member of Maine Development Foundation's Leadership Maine Chi Class.

Josh frequents the Bangor City Forest and Bangor Land Trust Preserves. His hobbies include entertaining friends and family, gourmet cooking, and being involved in his community. Josh is a subscriber of, an online essay-based science publication, and Gastronomica, an academic journal for food science and culture.

Councilor Plourde serves on the Government Operations, Business & Economic Development and Infrastructure Committees and the Commission for Cultural Development.
