Councilor Gibran Graham

Gibran Graham spent his childhood in Newburyport, Massachusetts. There, his mother raised him to work hard, help others, and be involved with his community.  In 1996, he came to Bangor to visit family and realized that it felt like home. He's been in Bangor ever since; his daughter,Vanessa, graduated from Bangor High School, where she was a student in the STEM program and was involved in music, theater, and soccer.

Gibran’s work background is in retail management and marketing, and is currently the owner of The Briar Patch children’s book and toy store in Downtown Bangor. His passion is volunteering and developing programs to help the community come together. He's a member of the steering committee for FUSION:Bangor and sits on several planning boards and non-profit organizations including the Downtown Bangor Partnership, PechaKucha Bangor, River City Cinema, and the Bangor Book Festival. Gibran has also coordinated many public Bangor events, including the Kid Central Festival, BangPop!, and the West Market Festival.
